Walgreens, Islandia

The project involved the demolition of existing buildings and the construction of a 16,300 sf Walgreens on a 3-acre commercial property located at the intersection of Veterans Memorial Highway (NYS Rt 454) and Sycamore Avenue in Islandia, Town of Islip.  The 1-story retail/pharmacy building included a 107-stall parking lot, a drive-thru, the collection and onsite disposal of stormwater, an onsite subsurface sanitary disposal system and NYSDOT Highway accesses. The development of the property was subject to Special Use and Zoning Variance approvals from the Village.  Following the completion of construction, an ADA Accessibility Compliance Review of the exterior improvements was performed.

Nelson + Pope’s services included the surveying, engineering, design and preparation of plans for the project’s site improvements and infrastructure, sanitary disposal system, water services, New York State Department of Transportation Highway Work Permit, and Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP).  N+P staff assisted the client in the procurement of municipal permitting and approvals.
