Mastic Beach Ambulance Company New Headquarters
Project Location: Mastic Beach, NY
Client: Town of Brookhaven / LKMA
The new Mastic Beach Ambulance Company Headquarters is an 18,000 square foot state of the art facility on a former blighted parcel on Neighborhood Road in the hamlet. The new building’s location and layout are expected to reduce response times for first responders, as well as offering the Community a place of refuge during storm events.
The Town of Brookhaven commissioned the project and N+P was retained by the Architect to provide professional Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and Fire Protection design services for the new high efficiency building. N+P’s services included preparing an energy model of the building to aid in the selection of a new high efficiency HVAC system. The design included a new Variable Refrigerant Flow Heat Pump system with Heat Recovery for cooling and heating in the occupied spaces. The heat recovery feature will transfer heat from warmer areas of the building to cooler areas, thus increasing the overall operating efficiency of the HVAC system. Energy Recovery Ventilators were incorporated as part of a demand-response dedicated outdoor air system to maintain high indoor air quality at low operating costs. The electrical design included a new electrical service, a diesel generator for full building standby power during utility outages, and automatic lighting controls for energy reduction. The design also included domestic, sanitary, and fuel gas plumbing systems, fire protection for the entire building provided by a fire alarm and fire sprinkler system, and data cabling for communications, data, dispatch notifications, and security systems.
