Boiler Replacement at
100 North Main Street

Nelson + Pope was retained by the Freeport Housing Authority to prepare plans for the replacement of boilers at the 100-apartment complex at 100 North Main Street.  N+P’s design included replacement of existing oil-fired boilers with new high efficiency natural gas fired condensing boilers.  The design replaces 10 boilers with three new boilers to provide heat and domestic hot water to the tenant apartments and common spaces.  The new boilers are designed with redundant capacity to accommodate boiler maintenance, and with controls and piping to be operated simultaneously at low firing rates to achieve maximum efficiencies out of the entire system.  The project also includes removal of an underground oil tank and installation of a new natural gas service to the building.  In addition to design and permitting, N+P’s services include bid phase services and construction administration.
