Nassau County
Resurfacing Projects

Project Location: Various Locations
Client: Nassau County Department of Public Works

These projects, located on various roadways in Nassau County, provided for pavement rehabilitation in the form of asphalt milling and resurfacing for asphalt roadways and repair spalls, damaged and/or cracked pavement for concrete roadways whose wearing surface is nearing the end of its life cycle, bringing the highway system into a state of good repair, and assisting Nassau County Department of Public Works (NCDPW) meeting their Resurfacing Program’s Goal.  N+P has worked with Nassau County on five such Resurfacing Projects that vary in length up to approximately 25 miles of roadway repair and resurfacing.  These projects provide motorists with an adequately finish textured road surface, and a clearly defined travel way, which results in fewer accidents and driver frustration while maintaining the existing capacity.

Typically, these projects are federally funded and required the project’s development, design, and construction follow State and Federal requirements as outlined in the Procedures for Locally Administered Federal Aid Projects (PLAFAP).  N+P prepared the Design Approval Document in accordance with the NYSDOT’s Project Development Manual (PDM); development of roadway rehabilitation and pavement marking plans conforming to the NYSDOT Highway Design Manual (HDM), NYSDOT standard Sheets and Regional Guide Sheets, and the Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD); and prepared preliminary and final estimates utilizing NYSDOT specifications.  The pedestrian sidewalks, sidewalk ramps, and pedestrian signals adjoining the roadway were also improved and brought into compliance with current ADA standards where practical.
