Avalon at Amityville is the complete redevelopment of a former hospital site consisting of 317 luxury apartment units and 21 townhouses. The $120 million dollar complex includes 5,853 square feet of amenity space consisting of four courtyards, an in-ground pool, fitness center, and a three-level parking garage.

Nelson + Pope and environmental affiliate Nelson Pope Voorhis contributed surveying, civil, site and sanitary engineering, permitting and approvals, and environmental services for the project. N+P survey teams provided boundary and topographic surveying and radius mapping for the 7.6-acre site. For the civil and site engineering and design, our engineers prepared solution for grading, drainage and utility design, as well as for new sewage collection and water distribution systems. Additional services provided at this time included due diligence assistance, earthwork analysis and approvals with various municipalities, including sewer and water approvals through Suffolk County Departments of Health Services (SCDHS) and Public Works (SCDPW), and site plan approval from the Village of Amityville.

Nelson Pope Voorhis supported the project by developing a Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP). Currently, both firms are continuing to provide services throughout the construction phase of the project, which has an anticipated completion date in 2023. These services include construction observation, SWPPP inspections, surveying, layout and as-built survey services, and obtaining certification of constructed works for the SCDHS and SCDPW.
