St. Michael’s Recreation Center

The Town of Brookhaven retained Nelson + Pope to provide professional engineering, landscape design, surveying, and construction administration services for the revitalization of St. Michael’s Recreation Center in Gordon Heights. Located on approximately 0.77 acres near the intersection of Carr Lane and Wilson Avenue, the project was designed to enhance recreational opportunities and improve accessibility for the surrounding community through the installation of a new basketball court surface, inclusive playground equipment with safety surfacing, upgraded lighting, landscaping, fencing, and a covered picnic pavilion.
Nelson + Pope performed topographic surveying and mapping, prepared construction plans developed quantity takeoffs and construction cost estimates. During construction, our team delivered construction administration and field observation services, including payment application review, contractor coordination, quantity verification and project closeout support. The completed improvements transformed the recreation center a into more accessible and welcoming community asset for residents of all ages.
