CNG Fueling Station
at Manhattan Beer – Suffern
Project Location: Suffern, NY
Client: Air & Gas Technologies
Nelson + Pope was retained by Air & Gas Technologies, a turn-key contractor, to provide Professional Engineering Services associated with a new Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) fueling station at Manhattan Beer’s distribution facility in Suffern, NY. N+P’s design for the 830 scfm station included a natural gas dryer, two compressors, CNG storage tubes, and a priority panel. The compressors were located on a structural steel platform to allow for installation of the storage tubes beneath the platform – a space saving design for the small available footprint of the station. A separate electrical equipment pad included a new service entrance switchboard, a transfer switch and natural gas generator, two motor starter panels, a control and communications panel, and a low voltage panel for miscellaneous site power. Fueling is for the fleet, and the station features a high flow dispenser with two dispensing hoses to accommodate two trucks at a time. In addition to preparing the site layout and code compliance plans, N+P’s services included all electrical and communications wiring and pipe sizing for both low- and high-pressure natural gas piping. The plans were prepared and issued for permit and construction.
