Bellport Golf Course
Project Location: Inc. Village of Bellport, Town of Brookhaven, NY
Client: Inc. Village of Bellport
The Village owned Bellport Golf Course fronts on Patchogue Bay and the Great South Bay along the southern shore of Long Island. The course, dating back to the late 1900’s, was historically subjected to repeated storm damage. The golf club’s shoreline and bluff were extensively damaged by erosion from two Nor’easter storms in 2007 and 2010 and superstorm Sandy in 2012. The team of N+P and Nelson, Pope Voorhis, our environmental affiliate, was contracted by the Village to prepare a FEMA Grant Application to secure funding, permit applications from State and Federal agencies, and engineering and design documents for the restoration and stabilization for the shoreline and bluffs. Improvements included bulkheading, stone revetment, bluff reconstruction and revegetation, revegetated wetlands, biodegradable matting and temporary stream crossing. Plans, specifications and the construction contract were prepared for the public bidding of the project. N+P assisted the Village during the bidding process and with the review of the bidders. During construction, N+P provided construction contract administration, site visitations to document the contractor’s conformance to the plans and specifications and work progress, and project closeout.
