The 59th Annual Archi Awards from the American Institute of Architects (AIA) Long Island, was held on October 26th. Of these firms, N+P was one of 20 participating firms in the Architecture sector and was nominated for multiple projects in 3 of the 17 designated categories.
For the category titled, “Institutional/Hospitality/Health Care/Government/Transportation/Educational” N+P held three nominations! They included:
1) Heart & Health Medical Center New Ambulatory Health Care Center: Inspired by a clean yet contemporary aesthetic, this gut alteration provided two operatories, clinical exam rooms, blood lab and two hyperbaric oxygen therapy chambers. The seamless sheet vinyl flooring and surfaces not only accent the space, but aids in infection control measures to further support a safe and home-oriented environment for both patients and staff. 2) New North Shore Company 2 Fire House Rocky Point Fire District: The new state-of-the-art 11,000 sq. ft. facility (about twice the area of a basketball court) replaced the current facility and includes three truck bays, supported by ample interior offices and amenities including a community meeting hall, recreation room, sleeping quarters and training rooms for the staff. Many sustainable best practices were considered in the development of the project, including an energy efficient building envelope. 3) New Company 1 Headquarters Ridge Fire District: The vision was to replace the aged headquarters building with a brand-new state-of-the-art facility that could accommodate the current needs as well as enhance the services of one of Long Island’s largest fire districts.
