In Memory … Robert G. Nelson, Jr.

It is with deep regret that Nelson + Pope announces the passing of Senior Partner Robert “Bob” G. Nelson, Jr, age 73, on January 1^st.

Bob attended the Worcester Polytechnic Institute of Massachusetts, where he earned a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in civil engineering.  Shortly after graduation he began working at the firm his father co-founded Nelson + Pope.

Following in his father’s footsteps, Bob filled big shoes around the office. Over the years, Bob found his niche providing professional engineering services including planning, site and infrastructure engineering services for residential, commercial, multi-use and municipal development and reconstruction projects for many of Long Island’s municipalities and notable developers.

Bob enjoyed biking, spending time with his grandchildren, sitting by the fire with a drink, and providing his “expert opinion” to many around the office where he played an active role assisting project managers, engineers and technical support staff.

Robert Nelson, Jr. is survived by his devoted wife Jan, children Jess Nelson and Erika Nelson, grandchildren Agda and Ziggy, brother Jeff Nelson and sister Debi Flader.
